European bicycle dealers rejoice due to the money they made last year, mainly insured bei the sale of so called e-bikes. In germany the sales rose in 2011 by 55 percent to 310,000 units. Meanwhile eight per cent of all german bikes have an electric motor build in. Nearly 1.000,000 e-bikes populate the streets of Germany. Only in Holland the modern Leezen are even more popular. Thus, in Europe electric mobility arrived at new dimensions, of which the automotive industry can only dream of.
Where there is light, there is also shadow. With increasing traffic and higher speeds, the dangers not only for owners of e-bikes, but also for other road users, will increase. Pedestrians and drivers do not expect each other, especially when pensioners on bikes shoot rapidly around the corner. Boom! And so the e-bike boom will ensure that safety in road traffic will become an increasingly important topic for us.
